My name is Sebastian Nye-Schmitz. I was born in Germany and moved to the United States with my family in 1995, starting school in Cape Coral, Florida. I went on to attend the International Baccalaureate program at Fort Myers High School, graduating in 2001.
My father, Werner Schmitz, was a Steuerberater — a German tax advisor — who founded SSI Accounting & Tax Service, Inc. in 1998. I grew up around the business, and while still in high school I earned my first H&R Block certifications to help him. After graduation, I joined the firm officially — first as office manager, then as Vice President, and eventually as a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
In 2009, I began law school at Ave Maria School of Law, drawn to the intersection of tax and legal controversy. I earned my Juris Doctor, passed the Florida Bar in 2012, and went to work at a boutique tax law firm in Naples handling controversy and litigation matters.
When my first daughter was born, I made the decision to go out on my own — seeking the flexibility to be present for my family and the freedom to focus on the clients I believed I could best serve. I founded The Nye-Schmitz Law Firm, P.A., which continues to operate as a separate practice focused on tax controversy, estate planning, and related legal matters.
Eventually, I re-established the accounting practice as The Nye-Schmitz Accounting Firm, P.A. — because I genuinely enjoy the work, and because it complements the law firm in ways that serve my clients well. The two entities are kept separate for Bar and insurance purposes, but together they allow me to offer a level of integrated, cross-border expertise that is rare in Southwest Florida.
My education reflects the same drive: a B.S. in Accounting from Florida Gulf Coast University, completed in three years, followed by an M.S. in Taxation from FGCU in one additional year. I hold my CPA license, I am an IRS-authorized Certifying Acceptance Agent (CAA), and I am admitted to the Florida Bar — credentials that let me handle both the tax preparation and the legal dimensions of cross-border matters that many firms simply cannot.
From our office at 5425 Park Central Court in Naples, we serve clients throughout Southwest Florida — from Cape Coral where I started school, to Fort Myers where I earned my IB diploma, to Naples where I’ve made my home for over fourteen years. This is my community, and these are my neighbors.
