A Warm Welcome to Our New Website

Welcome to the new online home of The Nye-Schmitz Accounting Firm, P.A. If you’ve found us, you’re likely part of the German-American community here in Southwest Florida — and you’re looking for a CPA who understands both sides of the Atlantic.

I’m Sebastian Nye-Schmitz, a Certified Public Accountant based in Naples, Florida. I grew up in a German-American household, moved to Southwest Florida at age eleven, and have called Naples home for over fourteen years. I’m also admitted to the practice of law, which means I can handle matters that go beyond what a typical tax preparer can — but this firm is dedicated to one thing: providing you with the most competent, diligent tax service possible.

A Family Tradition

My father, Werner Schmitz, was a Steuerberater — a German tax advisor — who founded SSI Accounting & Tax Service, Inc. in 1998. He built his firm on a simple principle: treat every client’s taxes as if they were your own. That meant meticulous preparation, honest advice, and never cutting corners.

I’m carrying that tradition forward — but with a new name, a new office in Naples, and a renewed commitment to the German-American community across Southwest Florida. From Cape Coral to Fort Myers, Bonita Springs to Sarasota, I’m here to serve you with the same standard of care my father built his reputation on.

What We Do

Our firm handles the full range of cross-border tax matters that affect the German-American community:

Income Tax — Form 1040 and 1040-NR for residents and non-residents, corporate returns (1120), partnership returns (1065), ITIN applications, FinCEN FBARs, and audit representation.

Estate & Gift Tax — U.S. domiciliary and non-domiciliary estate tax returns, gift tax returns, and treaty-based unified credit calculations for German nationals with U.S. assets.

Withholding Tax (FIRPTA) — FIRPTA withholding tax returns, withholding certificate requests, and refund procurement for international real estate transactions.

Consulting — Immigration business plans, financial record review, litigation support, and business planning.

Why a CPA?

There’s an important difference between a Certified Public Accountant and other tax return preparers. A CPA must meet rigorous education requirements, pass a comprehensive four-part examination, and maintain ongoing continuing education. It’s the highest standard of professional competence in the accounting field. When you trust someone with your taxes — especially cross-border taxes involving two countries’ worth of rules — that standard matters.

Why Naples?

Our office is located at 5425 Park Central Court in Naples, Florida. But we serve clients throughout Southwest Florida — including Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Marco Island, Estero, Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Venice, and Sarasota. Whether you’re a German national who just bought a vacation home in Cape Coral, a long-time resident of Fort Myers with income from Germany, or a business owner in Naples with cross-border operations, we’re here to help.

A Renewed Commitment

This new website is more than a facelift. It’s a renewed commitment to the community that my father served for decades. We’re investing in technology, bilingual service, and a modern approach to cross-border tax — while preserving the personal attention and meticulous care.

I invite you to explore our new site, learn about our services, and reach out if you have questions. Whether you need a tax return prepared, an estate plan that respects two tax codes, or simply honest advice about your cross-border tax situation — we’re here, and we’re ready to help.
